Meloni made a surprise appearance at the Alpine troops rally: "Thank you for your valuable work."
The president walked part of the parade, greeted and applauded: "Well done, keep it up."Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was greeted by a crowd as she left the Tri-Veneto Alpine troops rally underway in Gemona del Friuli.
After stepping down from the podium, the president walked part of the parade again, accompanied by, among others, the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani. Onlookers along the road cheered and applauded her, chanting "Well done Giorgia" and "Keep it up!" as she waved. After the ceremony, the prime minister got into her car and left the venue.
"I wasn't able to go to Genoa, so I think it was worth coming here to say thank you," she said in a statement to L'Alpino TV. "Thank you for your values, and thank you for the invaluable work you do, even during our Olympics, and for the constant volunteer work they do. They are a guarantee, and for institutions, having this kind of assurance makes a huge difference. So, above all, I'm here to say thank you."
"I also came to present this extraordinary and well-deserved recognition," she added, "to the president of the National Alpine Association for the work he does every day, but it is clearly a recognition of all our pens." The president then presented the president of the ANA, Sebastiano Favero, with the honor of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic.
