Alessandro Albertoni and Luca Vanneschi , both sentenced to three years in the Supreme Court on 7 October 2021 for attempted sexual violence against Martina Rossi , the 20-year-old Genoese student who died precisely to escape the attempted rape, were constituted in the prison of Arezzo.

The two will be detained on a semi-liberty basis . This is an alternative measure that provides for work outside the prison and the possibility of stopping at home, according to a program to be established, with return to prison for the night.

The events occurred on August 3, 2011, Martina fell from the terrace of a hotel room in Palma de Mallorca, in an attempt to escape the two who were staying in the same structure . The twenty-year-old was on vacation on the Spanish island with some friends, the two defendants, residing in Castiglion Fibocchi, in the Aretino area, were in the same hotel.

The two were sentenced to three years for attempted sexual assault . The "death as a consequence of another crime" was not contested because the Supreme Court explained that "the only procedural truth that is confirmed is that of the attempted sexual violence". For the defense of the two boys Martina had committed suicide

Martina's father had publicly complained that the sentence, after months, had not yet been carried out . The two defendants appeared after their request for probation to the social services was rejected in the hearing held in the surveillance court in recent days.

“If Alessandro Albertoni and Luca Vanneschi are in prison, it means that a piece of justice was still missing, and now it has been completed. Because time passed, we tried to understand what was happening in Arezzo and Florence, but the decision never came. Now justice is done ”, these are the words of the girl's parents, reported by one of their lawyers, the lawyer Luca Fanfani.
