A major anti-drug operation by the Carabinieri of Belgioioso (Pavia) with ramifications also in Sardinia : two young men, one resident in the province of Cagliari and the other in the province of Imperia, were arrested red-handed as part of an investigation coordinated by the Pavia Public Prosecutor's Office into an alleged nationwide drug trafficking ring.

In addition to the two arrests, 17 people were investigated and a significant quantity of narcotics was seized. The investigation, launched in 2024 by officers from the Belgioioso Carabinieri Station, involved a total of 19 people under investigation, on various counts, for the production, trafficking, and illicit possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances. Carabinieri officers from the provincial commands of Cagliari, Brescia, Lucca, Caltanissetta, Cremona, Imperia, Reggio Calabria, Bari, Varese, and Alessandria also participated in the operation.

During the operation, the officers found marijuana greenhouses in the provinces of Pavia and Cagliari, also seizing 236 cannabis plants, approximately 5 kilograms of fully developed marijuana, 170 grams of hashish, and small quantities of LSD and ecstasy. €4,800 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing, was also found and seized.
