An 84-year-old woman, Maria Bianchi, was killed with scissors by her 56-year-old son , who had been in treatment for some time for mental problems.
It happened in San Severino Marche, in the province of Macerata, in the apartment that the two shared in via Raffaello, the same street as the police station.
The man, arrested by the police, also attempted to set fire to his mother's body .
The two ran a bar together and were very well known in the city.
