Sunday, October 31, hands back 60 minutes: solar time returns at 3.00. This is not a farewell to summer time, but only a goodbye: the European Commission's proposal to introduce the single time model is still stalled. And Italy had already expressed its opposition: according to what was communicated by Terna, the company that manages the national transmission grid, in the 7 months of summer time the Italian electricity system benefited from lower consumption equal to 450 million kWh, for a consequent economic savings amounting to approximately 105 million euros. From 2004 to 2021, according to the company's analysis, the lower consumption of electricity for Italy due to summer time was a total of about 10.5 billion kWh and led, in economic terms, to savings for citizens of over 1.8 billion euros.

Moving the hands forward by an hour delays the use of artificial light at a time when work activities are still in full swing.

Most electronic devices are designed to adjust automatically, and therefore no need for intervention: the analog home clock, on the other hand, cannot ignore the repositioning of the hands.

Daylight saving time will be back in effect from March 27, 2022.
