Now it's official: an investigation is underway for voluntary homicide "also in the international arena" in relation to the death of Giuseppina Caliandro, the 41-year-old woman hit and killed by a car on Saturday evening in Gemonio (Varese).

The Prosecutor explains that there are "elements against a wanted subject that will have to be verified and confirmed". The suspect's identity has been entered into international wanted databases, he probably fled immediately after the crime.

The woman was run over a few steps from her home: initially the case was treated as that of a hit-and-run driver, then two eyewitnesses led the investigators to suspect the murder. A young man, who was nearby to pick up a take-away pizza, spoke of a ferocious argument that took place shortly before the collision, then saw him get into the car, engage the reverse and set off at full throttle with the intent to invest it . He also provided the car's color and model, as well as a portion of the license plate. The second witness is another motorist, mowed down by the fugitive's car, who after running over Caliandro while running away, collided with his car, continuing to run as if nothing had happened.

Giusy, as relatives and friends called her, had arrived in Gemonio in 2019, to live with her girlfriend. Mortally wounded after being thrown against a wall by a car, the 41-year-old fought for her life, but unfortunately the injuries were too serious .
