He confessed to killing his mother, Teresa Sommario, 52 years old, by hitting her with an axe because she had scolded him for entering the house without saying hello : at the end of the interrogation, the PM Simona Rizzo issued an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Filippo Marini, from Racale (Lecce) .

"At a certain point - Marini said, in front of the magistrate and his lawyer, Francesco Fasano - everything went out. I went upstairs, took the axe and killed her. Other times I thought about it as a joke, telling her and today I did it ", he said without revealing emotion and regret.

The young man was transferred to prison pending his appearance before the investigating judge. The level of vigilance has been raised for him. An autopsy on the woman's body has been scheduled for next Friday, June 20, and will be performed by the coroner Alberto Tortorella.

Filippo Marini, an economics student in Rome, hit his mother on the head with the boy scout axe he had had since he was a child and then ran away . The carabinieri caught up with him shortly after and stopped him as he was moving towards Torre Suda, a town overlooking the Ionian Sea in Salento. He was wandering around bare-chested and in a state of confusion .

"It's a tragedy that has no explanation," says the mayor of Racale, Antonio Salsetti . "It has no reason, it came out of nowhere. I've known the family, especially the father, for many years. It's a hard time. I struggle to think about what happened. There was no warning. Today we are shocked, I have no words ." Salsetti emphasizes that the 21-year-old is "a boy like many others, without any problems. He is a young university student, he was studying in Rome, from where he returned a few days ago."
