An extraordinary plan for the creation of a video surveillance system throughout the city: this is what the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, calls for, who, in his social live, talks about the death of Emanuele Tufani's 15-year-old boyfriend, involved in a shooting.
"We," says De Luca, "are making huge investments for the younger generations: from the Scuola Viva program to psychologists present in all the districts, from free transportation for students to free sports vouchers for young people up to 15 years old. We have invested 5 million euros with the Episcopal Conference for young people from families in difficulty. These are enormous efforts. But there is an explosion of youth violence and petty delinquency, especially in the city of Naples, against which extraordinary measures must be taken. First of all for the police, but we know that repression is not enough."
Hence the need to strengthen video surveillance "at least for the large neighborhoods and for the places where there is more nightlife. As a Region, we have already made investments in this direction on five or six streets in the historic center, but we need a massive plan to have control of all the main streets and main neighborhoods. The cameras are a deterrent. There is a spread of knives, daggers, we have reached the point of guns. We must make decisions. Let's lend a hand in this way to recover civil living conditions and to prevent the nights from becoming an opportunity for duels and clashes between gangs".
