Emis Killa, investigated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office for criminal association and hit by a three-year Daspo, officially withdraws from the Sanremo Festival.
"I learned today from the newspapers that I am under investigation (I was only notified of the daspo, which is an administrative act and not a criminal one) and if this is true, it will be important that the investigation takes its course and the judiciary can work calmly without controversy or pressure and media circuses", he wrote in a story on Instagram. "After 15 years of career I was happy to face my first Sanremo. I thank Carlo Conti for having wanted me but I prefer to take a step back and not participate . I trust that everything will be resolved as soon as possible, for the best, and I hope to be able to face a Festival in the future where music is central, to be able to bring my song, talk only about that and have fun, as it should have been this year and as it is right for all the Artists who decide to get involved and participate in the competition".
The 35-year-old rapper, born Emiliano Rudolf Giambelli, will not be replaced : the artistic director Carlo Conti and the organization of the Festival, explains a note from Viale Mazzini, «take note of the withdrawal of Emis Killa from the 75th edition of the Sanremo Festival. Consequently, Rai informs that the competition will take place with the presence of 29 artists on the stage of the Ariston Theater ».
According to Corriere della Sera, Giambelli has been registered as a suspect in the “Doppia Curva” investigation by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate into the criminal affairs of the Inter and Milan ultras, which at the end of September led to the issuing of 19 precautionary measures and the closure of the two Milanese curves.
Killa, a die-hard AC Milan fan, was identified according to investigations while he and 14 other ultras watched them beat up a steward and is said to be friendly with the Lucci brothers and Fabiano Capuzzo with whom he "runs a barber shop in Monza". On social media he also "shows off photographs with other people considered by investigators to be close to the Calabrian gangs such as Alfonso Cuturello and Antonio Favasuli".
