Elisabetta Belloni leaves the leadership of the secret services early. Belloni, whose post as director of the DIS would have expired next May, communicated her choice to the Authority delegated for the security of the Republic, Alfredo Mantovano.
He will leave on January 15, but Belloni denied rumors that the decision is linked to taking on a new role in the EU, alongside Ursula Von der Leyen.
"I have been thinking about this decision for some time but I have no other assignments. For now there is nothing, I am just leaving. I am leaving my post as director of the DIS on January 15," he declared to Corriere.
