Investigations continue to shed full light on the fate of the 77-year-old woman - Concetta Infante - found lifeless yesterday in a trunk sealed with adhesive tape in the bedroom of a house in Mondragone, in the province of Caserta.

From what we learn, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which ordered the autopsy, opened a case for concealment of a body and entered the victim's 40-year-old daughter in the register of suspects.

The woman, unemployed, told the police that her mother had had a domestic accident over a month ago: she had fallen, hitting her head and died, but she did not have the money for the funeral and had thus locked the body in a trunk.

The Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Department also ascertained that the 40-year-old had received two months' pension in the meantime.

The autopsy will have to establish whether the 77-year-old really died from a domestic accident or whether she was murdered.

The body of the elderly woman, in an advanced state of decomposition, was found by another daughter of the victim, who lives and works in Abruzzo, who returned to Mondragone because she was worried given that for weeks, she said, she had not been able to contact the mother.
