A former employee of ASL Roma 1 - the largest local health company in Italy - investigated for hacking the ASL's systems and stealing data. All in retaliation.

This was discovered by the Postal Police officers, who carried out a house and IT search order issued by the Court of Rome against the man.

«The police of the National Anti-Cyber Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures - explains a note - have reconstructed the phases of the attack, which consisted in the illicit disclosure by the subject, a former employee, of administration and control credentials of the ASL servers largest in Italy, with the aim of preparing subsequent high-impact cyber attacks".

Files were found on a PC containing the access credentials and configurations of the ASL Rome computer systems, as well as all the electronic equipment used for the attack.

«The fact – continue the investigators – would be linked to retaliation towards the company where the man had been employed for years as an IT professional».
