The Government is preparing to launch new measures to contain the growth of Covid infections in Italy, driven by the Omicron variant, also in light of the forecasts of the experts, who fear in the coming days up to 200 thousand new infections per day, with the peak of the new wave that it will not be reached until the mid-end of January.

Prime Minister Mario Draghi therefore called the control room to Palazzo Chigi to take stock of the situation and, as mentioned, to assess further restrictions and measures, to be adopted in the subsequent Council of Ministers.

Furthermore, from what has been learned, the Democratic Party intends to propose to the executive the vaccination obligation "as a main way to address the issue of the growth of infections in progress".

A measure that the dems believe "the only way to clarify and avoid slipping into distinctions of age or functions that end up being carriers more of misunderstandings than of solutions".

The obligation could concern in particular the over 60s and other categories of workers, in addition to those already provided for by the previous decrees (teachers, health workers and law enforcement agencies).
