Sardinia is the only region in Italy to exceed the 10% alert threshold for the employment of Covid patients in intensive care, reaching 12.3%.

This is what emerges from the table on decision-making indicators attached to the weekly monitoring of the ISS. The highest employment values of the medical departments are found in Umbria (41.2%), Calabria (32%) and Sicily (26.3%). The regions that exceed the incidence value of a thousand Covid cases per 100 thousand inhabitants are Abruzzo (1082.1), Umbria (1065.1), Basilicata (1050.8) and Puglia (1042.7). The lowest value is instead recorded in Valle d'Aosta with 397.9.

On a national basis, on the other hand, again according to the data of the weekly ISS-Ministry of Health monitoring on the coronavirus trend in Italy, the employment rate in intensive care is stable at 4.7% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as of April 7) against 4.7% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 31 March). The employment rate in medical areas nationwide rose to 15.5% (data as of April 7) compared to 15.2% (data as of March 31).

On the other hand, the incidence and transmissibility index Rt is decreasing this week. The weekly incidence at national level is in fact equal to 776 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (01/04/2022 -07/04/2022) compared to 836 per 100,000 inhabitants last week (25/03/2022 -31/03/2022). In the period 16 - 29 March 2022, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was instead equal to 1.15 (range 1.04 - 1.30), a decrease compared to the previous week (when it had reached the value of 1, 24) and with a range that exceeds the epidemic threshold even in the lower limit.

The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing activity is down slightly (13% vs 14% last week). The percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms is slightly increasing (38% vs 37%), while the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities slightly decreases (48% vs 49%).
