The epidemiological curve of Covid-19 in Sardinia is still improving. In the week between 18 and 24 May, the currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants went from 1,513 to 1,257 with a decrease in new cases of 19.5% compared to the previous week. This is what the Gimbe Foundation highlights.

The most evident drop in the Nuorese area (-43.3%), where last week there was an increase in contrast with the rest of the island. Positivity per 100 thousand inhabitants also decreased in Sassarese with -28.3%, in Southern Sardinia with -12.8% and in Oristano with -11.6% compared to the previous week. In the metropolitan city of Cagliari , the incidence drops by 9.7%.

The percentage of beds in the medical area (11.5%) and in intensive care (5.4%) occupied by Covid-19 patients still remains above the national average.

On the vaccine front, the percentage of the population over 5 years that has not received any dose of vaccine is equal to 8.2% (Italy average 7%) to which we must add the population over 5 years who are temporarily protected, as they have recovered from Covid-19 by less than 180 days, or 3.7%.

The over 5-year-old population that has not received the third dose of vaccine is 6.6% (Italy average 8.5%) to which the over-5-year-old population recovered for less than 120 days, who cannot receive the third, must be added. immediate dose, equal to 9.7%, while the vaccination coverage rate with fourth dose is 30.5% for immunocompromised people and 5% for over 80, RSA guests and frail 60-79) is of 5%.

Among the 5-11 year old children , 43% of the audience completed the vaccination cycle (Italy average 34.6%) to which a further 4.5% (Italy average 3.4%) must be added with the first dose only.
