Cases of Covid still down this week in Italy, with the transmissibility index (Rt), however, which remains stable.

The incidence is clearly decreasing, passing to 37 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants against 45 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the previous week.

This is what emerges, at national level, from the draft of the weekly monitoring by Iss-Ministry of Health to the examination of the control room.

In the period 8-21 September, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 0.83 (range 0.81 - 0.85), below the epidemic threshold and stable compared to the previous week when it had reached the value of 0 , 82.

As regards the presence of Covid patients in hospital wards, the employment rate in intensive care continues to drop and reaches 5.1% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health), with a slight decrease in the number of people hospitalized by 516 ( given on 09/21/2021) to 459 (given 09/28/2021).

The employment rate in medical areas nationwide also falls to 5.9%. The number of people hospitalized in these areas decreased slightly from 3,937 (as of 09/21/2021) to 3,418 (as of 09/28/2021).

Only one Region, Lazio, is classified this week at moderate risk. The remaining 20 Regions / Autonomous Provinces are classified as low risk.

IN SARDINIA - The downward trend in hospitalizations both in intensive care and in the medical area continues on the island, but there is great attention to the increase in the number of cases recorded in recent days.

Yesterday the new positives reported were 52 , unfortunately also the death of a 67-year-old woman residing in Southern Sardinia.

Pressure on hospitals is decreasing: according to data from Agenas, the percentage of occupancy of beds in intensive care drops to 5% (-1), while employment in the medical area remains stable at 8%.

Sardinia also has the lowest RT in Italy, 0.57, against a national average of 0.83.
