From the analyses entrusted to the RIS of Cagliari, hypotheses have emerged on the weapon that was used to kill Chiara Poggi, who was fatally attacked in the house on Via Pascoli in Garlasco in August 2007. A crime for which Alberto Stasi was convicted, but which, as is known, the Pavia Prosecutor's Office has reopened its investigation, suspecting the responsibility of Andrea Sempio , a friend of the victim's brother.
Based on the Blood Pattern Analysis (BPA) conducted by the Scientific Investigations Unit of the Carabinieri of Cagliari, it is believed that the weapon or weapons used by the murderer were thoroughly washed or placed in a backpack or a towel , given that no traces of blood were found outside the house where the crime was committed.
"As is known, the Poggi family's home consists of a detached house surrounded by a garden with a perimeter wall and separation from the public road and neighboring homes," the Carabinieri of the RIS wrote. "The information gathered in the documents available to the CTI has never revealed any signs of forced entry on the property's exterior fixtures."
According to the Prosecutor's Office's consultants, "this circumstance makes it almost certain that the victim at least opened the front door of the house to her attacker and therefore the attacker gained access to the house through the main door."
"Furthermore," the Carabinieri of the RIS in Cagliari note, "the almost complete absence of blood stains on the attacker's exit route is noteworthy. At least for the weapon or weapons used, which were certainly heavily stained with blood, would have left a series of stains if carried outside."
"On the contrary, there is no trace of any of this starting from before the threshold of the door, so much so that it is assumed that the weapons were washed extremely carefully before leaving or were placed in a container (e.g. backpack wrapped in towels or similar)" , conclude the military personnel of the Cagliari forensic unit.
