Fifty-two searches throughout Italy against Georgian citizens, 19 arrested and 17 reported at liberty . This is the result of an investigation by the Flying Squad of the Udine Police Headquarters into the illegal stay in the national territory of dozens of carers found with false documents.

The investigative activity , coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Udine, was started in recent months following some reports received from the territorial offices of the Revenue Agencies.

In particular, a significant number of women, apparently of Georgian nationality, were reported to be entering the offices , but they presented themselves as EU citizens, displaying identity documents valid for travel abroad to European Union countries, in particular Slovakia, Poland and Lithuania.

The presentation of these documents allowed the women to obtain the community tax code to access the world of work, particularly in the circuit of carer agencies, and to enjoy legal, fiscal and health benefits, bypassing the rules that regulate the entry and stay in the national territory of non-EU citizens. The women then moved to different provinces, where they found work more easily.

The investigation led to the execution of searches, 14 of which were in the province of Udine, 6 in the province of Bolzano, and then Venice, Gorizia, Pistoia, Florence, Turin, Lecce, Latina, Varese, Belluno and Prato.

At the end of the operations , 36 false community documents, mostly Slovak, and the same number of tax codes were seized , with 19 women arrested for possession and manufacturing of false identification documents and another 17 reported at large for the same crime.

Following the checks by the immigration offices, all reported foreigners will be expelled if they do not have a regular residence permit.

The investigations continue because the investigative hypothesis is the presence of a well-structured organization, capable of manufacturing abroad and then delivering the documents to the buyers within a few days and in exchange for a sum of money of around 600 euros.
