Bari, he cultivated opium poppies among plants and vegetables: a farmer in trouble

In his field, among fruit trees, vegetables and flowers, he also grew opium poppies .

It happened in Polignano a Mare, where the financiers seized over 4 thousand bulbs for a total of 62 kilograms of plants . The owner of the land was reported for unauthorized cultivation of narcotic and psychotropic substances .

In the field, intended for cultivation for personal needs, the military found flowers ranging in height from 30 to 120 centimeters , from whose drying or incision of the capsules it is possible to obtain morphine , papaverine , codeine , opium and – after laboratory treatments – also heroin .

Examinations carried out after the discovery of the yellow flames revealed that the bulbs had significant levels of morphine.
