Streets turned into rivers, manholes blowing, people trapped in cars. The provinces of Messina and Catanzaro are the most affected by the wave of bad weather - the weather alert was yellow - which has hit southern Italy in recent hours.

In Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto the situation of the hospital is worrying where it rains from the ceiling, the Longano torrent is overflowing and numerous motorists have remained stuck in their cars after the flooding of the underpasses: the Fire Brigade intervened to free them.

In Milazzo an ambulance was engaged in the rescue service of a man suffering from a heart attack but had to stop as it was surrounded by water . To aggravate the situation there is the absence of current, and the dewatering pumps in various areas have not been able to come into action.

The mayors have asked the population to limit travel by car and to stay at home if possible.

Another province with numerous hardships is that of Catanzaro where the heavy rains have flooded houses, basements and streets. Some streams are flooded, others are under surveillance.
