Attempts to kill sick son with hammers, then takes his own life

First he tried to kill his seriously ill 38-year-old son in his sleep with a hammer, then he committed suicide . This happened on Thursday evening in Modena.

The alarm was given by the victim's brother who, upon returning home, realized what had happened in the house. The aid for the 69-year-old father was useless , but the sick son was immediately taken to the hospital in Baggiovara, in intensive care.

At the basis of the attempted murder and suicide, according to the police findings, there could be, in addition to the illness of the son, the worsening of the health conditions of the wife and a consequent moment of profound discouragement for the man .
