Giovanni Aru, a 21-year-old Sardinian resident in Macerata who six months ago attempted to rob a gold shop in the Marche city, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. The hearing, with abbreviated procedure as requested by the defendant, took place yesterday before the investigating judge Giovanni Manzoni.

On October 11, the young man entered the shop and distracted the owner by saying he wanted to buy a bracelet, then attacked him from behind, hitting him and spraying him with stinging spray . Then he pulled out a pistol threatening him: " I'll shoot you in the mouth ."

Aru tried to take possession of gold and jewels for a value of around 17 thousand euros, but the coup vanished thanks to the coldness of the merchant, who locked him inside the shop and alerted the police . The Sardinian was convicted of attempted robbery and injuries.
