There are two armored vans that were reportedly attacked late this afternoon by an armed gang on the Variante Aurelia at the exit of the southern tunnel of San Vincenzo (Livorno). Both vans, according to initial information, belong to the Battistolli company. From what we have learned from health sources, there are no injured people.
The dynamics of the assault are still unclear. What is certain is that the perpetrators of the robbery intervened with two vehicles and managed to stop the convoy by assaulting one of the two vans and threatening the vigilantes with long weapons, then armed with rifles. Then the gang - it is still unclear how many people it was made up of - after having carried out the robbery, moved away in a southerly direction on board other vehicles.
The investigations are being followed by the investigative unit of the Carabinieri of Piombino. The traffic police, alerted at 18:50, the medical emergency services and the fire brigade also intervened on site: from what we have learned, the latter are busy putting out the flames that have affected three vans in total.
A movie-like scene, some residents of San Vincenzo tell us, who witnessed the assault from the buildings near the highway: they heard a loud bang and some gunshots with a column of smoke that then rose from the fire of some vehicles - from what we learned it was a car and two vans - that were in front of and behind the attacked armored vans.
