The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella placed a laurel wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Vittoriano on the occasion of the celebrations of 4 November , National Unity Day and Armed Forces Day. Accompanied by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, the head of state reviewed the units deployed in Piazza Venezia.

With him at the Vittoriano, among others, the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, the President of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana and the leaders of the Armed Forces and Police. The ceremony was characterized as per tradition by the notes of the National Anthem performed by a military band and by the flyover of the national acrobatic team, the Frecce Tricolori.

Now the Head of State moves to Cagliari, where at 11.30 the celebrations at the port will continue: speeches by the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, and by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto are scheduled. However, Mattarella is not expected to speak.

The president will hand over the decorations to five flags , three of the Army, one of the Air Force and one of the Carabinieri, followed by the parade of around 500 soldiers, almost all Sardinian, many from the Sassari Brigade. At this point there will be the playing of the anthem, the display of the Frecce Tricolori and the launch of six paratroopers , one for each department, while the sixth will carry a large Italian flag. In closing, 21 blank shots from the Alpino ship, a missile frigate of the Navy. In the grandstand there will be the president of the Region Christian Solinas and several councilors, the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu (with the council and councilors) and eighty other first citizens arriving from all over the island.
