Armed assault on two armored vehicles in Tuscany, bandits with Sardinian accents: loot of over 3 million

A sensational robbery, both in terms of method and loot. It is the robbery that took place in the late afternoon yesterday on the Variante Aurelia, in the area of San Vincenzo in the province of Livorno. About ten bandits, who from the videos taken by locals can be seen speaking with a Sardinian accent , attacked two armored vehicles of the Battistolli company. The loot is considerable: over 3 million euros.

It seemed like a scene from a movie. The criminals, after the San Carlo tunnel – towards Rome, at the height of San Vincenzo – began the assault around 6:30 pm with three cars , in an area where the roadway is narrowed due to work in progress. According to initial reconstructions, they used an animal transport van, set it on fire, and fired shots in the air with rifles to make the security guards get out of the armored vehicles , after having rammed one of them. A very detailed plan, in the smallest details, which succeeded.

The gang, after taking the loot (we are talking about money for pensions, but also the takings of shopping centers), fled south and left San Vincenzo . On site, cars in flames and the evident signs of the attack, with a very high column of smoke rising from the place of the robbery. The road, inevitably, remained closed in both directions to allow the surveys and operations of the firefighters.

The police set up checkpoints throughout Tuscany during the night, but so far they have not found the criminals. There are no injuries, as confirmed by the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani .
