As soon as it entered Italian airspace, a Croatian Airbus 320, departed from Stockholm and headed for Rome, lost radio contact with the bodies responsible for air traffic.

Immediate alarm and take-off order for two Eurofighters of the 4 ° Fighter Wing of Grosseto which were activated for a "scramble", aimed at identifying and ascertaining the conditions of the scheduled flight. Once reached, the Vid (Visual identification) procedure was put in place to make sure that there were no emergency situations on board and no safety hazards had occurred.

Once the radio contacts were restored, the Eurofighters returned to base, the alarm ceased.
