The new agreement between the Government and the Region was signed, which reduces the contribution to public finance by about 77 million a year, allowing Sardinia to save 308 million over the next four years, and assigns the first 66 million to the island for 2021. compensation of the higher charges incurred on the basis of the condition of insularity, which become 100 million per year when fully operational, again as an advance, from 2022 (266 million in the three-year period, until a new agreement on insularity is reached).

"It is an important result, the fruit of a fruitful dialogue established by this council, from its very first steps, with the government," said Governor Christian Solinas.

"The concrete effects are evident, and allow us to give immediate responses to the island's priorities, creating the optimal conditions for a restart. In addition to addressing the issue of public finance competition in positive terms for our region, with the new agreement State-Region that will allow us to trigger that virtuous circle necessary for development, we will finally be able to count on a significant amount of resources to be allocated to the revival of the economy ”, he added.

Specifically, on the basis of the agreement reached, the level of provisions on the quotas of tax taxes for the next four years (from 2022 to 2025) has been reduced to 306.4 million per year (-20%), thus making it possible to retain territory about 77 million of revenue each year (the resources will be available following the allocation by the State with the next budget law 2022-2024). The other fundamental result is the release of state resources to compensate for the higher costs that Sardinia bears due to the condition of insularity: pending the launch, by 31 January, of a specific technical-political table aimed at quantifying and define specific compensatory measures for the removal of the gaps referable to insularity, as an advance payment, 66.6 million euros were allocated to the Region for 2021 and 100 million euros per year starting from 2022 (resources already allocated in the of the State 2021-2023).

"Today we are reaping the fruits of the intense work of President Solinas and of the talks with the Ministry of Economy, which have seen us as protagonists and which have led us to reach a very positive understanding for Sardinia", highlighted the commissioner of Planning and Budget Giuseppe Fasolino.

"The new agreement on public finance - which follows that of 2019 in which the contribution of Sardinia to the reorganization of the national public debt had already been lowered (from 536 to 383 million euros) and recognized to our Region over 1.5 billion of euro for investment expenses - it will allow us to start important projects for the relaunch of the Sardinian economy ”, he concluded.
