"We dispel a myth about Sardinia: natural gas is already there and we have begun to distribute it for more than a year. On the island we already have 5 thousand customers who use it, in addition to the 45 thousand we serve with other gases. We have laid over a thousand kilometers. of digital native networks, two thirds of which are already in operation, and we are also proceeding with the conversion to methane of the existing networks. the effects of the increases in this period ".

This was stated by Paolo Gallo, CEO of Italgas , at the Italian Energy Summit, entitled "Towards a green Italy: the next challenges of the energy transition".

"The similarities between what we are going to do in Greece, after the conclusion of the acquisition of Depa Infrastructure, and what we are doing in Sardinia - he added - are many. In Greece they have very clear ideas about the phase out of lignite and coal. and the government knows that an alternative is needed to do this, which they have identified in natural gas for the short and medium term. For this reason, also in Greece we will build native digital networks which, at first, will distribute natural gas, but which they will immediately be ready to welcome renewable gases such as biomethane, synthetic methane and hydrogen ".
