A mockery for Cagliari, defeated 3-2 at home by Fiorentina with a penalty in the 102nd minute which ends the season.
It begins with the tears of Ranieri, acclaimed by the entire stadium for his last bench.
FIRST HALF – Cagliari with Viola supporting Lapadula and Luvumbo, while behind Obert replaces the suspended Dossena alongside Mina. Fiorentina with their sights set on the Conference final, but it is the guests who shake up the match, with a header from Belotti (20') defused by Scuffet.
The rossoblù response is a barrage in three minutes: first a header from Deiola (27') just over, then a sure shot from Luvumbo (28') enhances Terracciano and, finally, another header from Deiola and the purple goalkeeper takes the ball out of the goal. Cagliari persists and in the 33rd minute Luvumbo, all alone, is hypnotized by Terracciano. A minute later, another right-footed shot from Deiola and the ball goes just over. But in the 39th minute, surprisingly, Fiorentina put their noses forward, with Bonaventura hitting the ball with his left foot under the top corner. Scuffet is very good at avoiding an encore on Castrovilli. In the 47th minute Lapadula's equalizer was canceled out for offside and the first half ended with Fiorentina ahead 1-0.
SECOND HALF – We start again in the second half with the same twenty-two and with the usual very inspired Deiola. In the 13th minute his header went just wide, but in the 19th minute he finally scored the goal, his first of the season, following an assist from Prati. Goal first disallowed for a possible offside and then validated after the VAR check. Pyrotechnic final. In the 40th minute the young Zambian Kingstone, who replaced Luvumbo, invents a winning diagonal, but after 4' Gonzalez surprises the rossoblù defense and makes it 2-2. In the 45th minute another goal by Lapadula was disallowed for offside. In injury time, standing ovation also for Nandez, replaced by Di Pardo, and for Aresti and Mancosu.
But in the 101st minute the referee, after consulting with the VAR, catches a touch from Di Pardo on Beltran: penalty and Arthur wrong-foots Aresti. Goal and final whistle. The season ends with a mockery, but Cagliari remains in Serie A.
