Excavations of Pompeii, two new skeletons found in the Insula dei Casti Amanti
The victims died during an earthquake that accompanied the tragic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 ADThe skeletons of two new victims re-emerge from the excavations of Pompeii .
The discovery, which took place during an excavation in the Insula dei Casti Amanti , certifies that it was not only the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD that caused the death of the inhabitants of the area but also a concomitant earthquake . The two, who died during the earthquake, were found under the rubble of a wall which collapsed during the final phase of sedimentation of the lapilli.
"The techniques of modern excavation - explains the director of the Park, Gabriel Zuchtriegel - help us to better understand the hell that completely destroyed the city of Pompeii in two days, killing many inhabitants".
