To avoid blocking the restart plan of the Eurallumina of Portovesme, a new memorandum is needed which puts the steps for the production recovery project on paper and guarantees employment for the workers of the Sulcis bauxite refinery.

For this reason, the national secretariats of CGIL, CISL and UIL are ready to put pressure on the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, urging a meeting in Rome to give certainty to the multinational Rusal which has made an investment of around 300 million euro and which in May 2023 will define the operating budget for next year. Without answers, that money will remain immobile in the company coffers, also risking leaving the approximately 400 workers who, already on rotation today (about 200), are on layoffs without a parachute . The social shock absorber will expire at the end of this year and without the plan for a restart project, the risk is that the cig cannot be used again, leaving only the dismissal as the only way. A prospect that the unions want to avoid and which would not only affect the 400 direct workers but also all related industries (overall, there are talks of 1500 direct and indirect jobs).

The national table will have to discuss two types of problems that also closely affect the Sardinia Region. First of all, the go-ahead of the Paur authorization procedure is still awaited, which is linked to the ongoing process in Cagliari on the alleged environmental disaster at the site: the sentence is set for May 5th. The other question concerns the supply of natural gas through the maxi gas carrier which is foreseen by the Dpcm Energia against which the Region has lodged an appeal. After the rejection of the Tar, the Council of State has now postponed the discussion on the merits to November 16, a date that the unions and Confindustria consider late.
