The Regional Directorate Museums are also offering extraordinary openings today, Monday 21 April, with a range of exhibitions and cultural initiatives.
In Sassari , the "GA Sanna" Museum preserves collections that tell the story of Sardinia from prehistoric times to the modern period, including archaeological finds, ethnographic artefacts and works of art. An opportunity to visit the new layout that includes a complete overhaul of the exhibition. From here to the National Art Gallery that preserves some paintings by Giuseppe Biasi belonging to the Sardinia Region Collection, waiting to be able to temporarily exhibit the entire collection in the rooms of the Museum. You can then admire an engraving by Mario Delitala, Christ at the Praetorium, 1937, woodcut on paper and works by Maria Lai and Costantino Nivola.
At the Antiquarium Turritano in Porto Torres you can admire the mosaic of Orpheus and visit the exhibition "Shells at the Antiquarium" , inaugurated a few days ago, with the display of shells and micro-shells from abroad as well.
The route reaches Caprera at the Garibaldi Compendium , with the new exhibition space, inside Giuseppe Garibaldi's windmill with some tools related to the farm such as the press for grinding olives and cleaning wheat. To learn more about the life story of the "hero of two worlds" a few kilometers away is the Giuseppe Garibaldi Memorial, in the Savoy fortress that houses the Museum. Visitors will be able to access four exhibition blocks, integral parts of Arbuticci's military architecture, in the multimedia rooms, entirely dedicated to the figure of Garibaldi. The panoramic view of the Archipelago is extraordinary.
IN CAGLIARI – An appointment with culture also in Cagliari . At the Galleria Comunale d'Arte an extraordinary journey unfolds through the Italian twentieth century : from Umberto Boccioni to Giacomo Balla, from Sironi to Depero, from Severini to Carrà. And also Giorgio Morandi, Mino Maccari and Francesco Ciusa.
At Palazzo di Città, instead, the exhibition Memoria e visioni in a deep dive into the artistic identity of Sardinia, with works from 1859 to the 1980s from the civic collections. A refined selection, which reveals rarely exhibited pieces and tells the changing face of the island's creativity.
The Siamese art museum “Stefano Cardu” is a jewel waiting to be discovered, among silver, porcelain, ceremonial weapons, manuscripts and precious tempera paintings.
