He had practically disappeared into thin air for years, after serving a long sentence for his participation in the kidnapping of little Augusto De Megni, the future winner of the reality show “Big Brother,” who was kidnapped at the age of 10 and held by the Anonima for 110 days, from October 3, 1990, to January 22, 1991.
The name of Sebastiano Murreddu, 74 years old from Orune, stands out among the 59 alleged drug traffickers arrested during Operation “Termine” ( ALL NAMES ).
Criminal thickness
The Orune native is suspected of facilitating the delivery of 5 kilos of cocaine in March 2021 to 41-year-old Roberto Sibiriu, from Villaperuccio, identified by DDA magistrates as a key figure in the Sulcis region for one of the two alleged gangs. According to investigating judge Luca Melis, Sebastiano Murreddu maintained a high level of criminal clout over time. He was initially Sibiriu's main supplier, but in October 2021—after identifying bugs on a farm in Sant'Anna Arresi—he quickly returned to Orune. However, negotiations for the supply of additional cocaine continued. Murreddu also allegedly offered protection to Sibiriu when he received a threatening visit from Albanians, furious over a seized drug shipment and convinced that the Sardinians had tipped him off.
