"The government forecasts that we will present in the next few days estimate growth of around 6% this year, compared to 4.5% assumed in the spring".

This was stated by Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who spoke today at the national assembly of Confindustria.

'' Industrial production exceeded the value recorded before the start of the pandemic in July. Exports in the second quarter of this year were 4.8% higher than in the same period in 2019, before the health crisis. The business confidence index in the last two months is the highest since 2005, when the surveys began ", he stressed, rattling off the positive data of the last few months.

"The strengthening of the economy is accompanied by an improvement in employment . In July the number of employed persons increased by 440 thousand units compared to a year earlier, and there were 170 thousand unemployed and 484 thousand inactive inactive. The labor market has restarted, but there are still aspects that cause concern ", added the prime minister.

"Italy is getting back on its feet after a deep crisis. This phase requires a balanced and effective budgetary policy. The consequences of the economic shock caused by the pandemic, starting with the increase in private debt, take time to be absorbed. Extraordinary measures such as the moratorium on bank credit have hidden vulnerabilities in our economic system that are destined to re-emerge over time. The confidence of families and businesses is high but fragile. The priority must be to preserve their spending power and their will. to invest ", he declared, placing the family at the center of the economic discourse.

The premier then reassured the industrialists, reiterating that the executive "has no intention of raising taxes. In this moment the money is given and not taken".

At the same time, however, he announced that he does not intend to back down on the draft law on competition : “I ask you companies to support it with conviction. The strengthening of the economy passes through the opening of the markets and not the defense of rents ".

Finally, he once again defended the decision to make the Green Pass mandatory in all workplaces : "It is an instrument of freedom and security, to defend citizens and workers and keep schools and businesses open. I want to thank Confindustria which has immediately worked together with the government and trade unions to find an agreement on the extension of the green certificate to the workplace. "

BONOMI: "THE STATE WAIVERS VAT AND EXCISE" - The "best temporary solution" to counter the increase in electricity and gas in Italy is that "the State renounces its massive proceeds through VAT and excise duties, which weigh on energy and fuels ".

This was stated by the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi, explaining: "We are anxious to understand how the government will try to stem these increases, so that they do not translate into a sting for Italian families".

The leader of the industrialists asked the government to speed up the reforms: "We must do them now. No more postponements, no more games, no more vetoes."

According to Bonomi, in fact, the reform plan linked to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "risks slipping".

He then reiterated that Confindustria "will oppose all those who want to hinder the reform process" and "those who flirt with the No vax instead of thinking about the safety of citizens and workers, as those who think that this government is timed".

The president then praised Prime Minister Mario Draghi, hoping that "he will continue for a long time in his current experience": he is one of the "men of necessity, different from the men of providence".
