Over a thousand farmers this morning took part in the assembly convened by Coldiretti Sardegna at the Cagliari Fair , to take stock of the problems of the fruit and vegetable, wine, beekeeping, olive, cereal sectors that contribute to the gross salable production of Sardinia for almost 1 billion of the billion and half as a whole produced on the island.

Unity of farmers

The important data that emerged from the meeting is that of unity : from the discussion, which was participated and heard by the farmers, a platform of claims emerged signed by all those present which will be presented to the presidents of the Executive and of the Regional Council. by a Coldiretti delegation in the coming days.

The class action

Through the lawyers of Coldiretti Sardegna, a class action was also announced for the non-payment of the 2017 drought. In fact, the lawyers Mauro Barberio and Fabio Ciulli intervened and explained how there are the conditions for a class action for the lack of relief from the drought of 2017 which will be presented in the coming days in agreement with Coldiretti Sardinia.

Progressive abandonment of programming

“For over 20 years we have witnessed the progressive abandonment of the strategic political planning of various sectors of Sardinian agriculture - said the president of Coldiretti Sardegna Battista Cualbu -. Just over 20% of 40 million was paid for the 2017 drought. It is not possible. It is a continuous dripping. Many thousands of companies are at risk, which in turn continue to regularly provide thousands of jobs to workers and agricultural workers. These are sectors that have always been present in the Sardinian agricultural panorama on which dedicated investments have been lacking ".

The complaint

Of the 40 million allocated to liquidate all the practices from 2017, if it is true, as the agricultural bodies have indicated that the figures used amount to 14 million and 260 thousand euros, it means that after 5 years there are still unspent for the fruit and vegetables, cereals, wine sector , beekeeping, olive growing, bovine fodder, exactly over 25 million euros.

You pay for the absence of dedicated policies

"All these sectors of the agricultural sector, which for years have paid for the absence of dedicated policies and wait years for the recognition of the refreshments due to natural disasters - said the director of Coldiretti Sardegna Luca Saba - are facing the hardest period since second post-war period: Covid, the side effects of the war in Ukraine, increasingly widespread speculative bubbles, increasingly stringent regulations on the use of pesticides for European companies compared to the rest of the world authorized to produce and export to our countries with any principle active; skyrocketing cost of diesel, tripled cost of Urea, doubled cost of raw materials and with the specter of the impossibility of quantifying current and future electricity costs, the Sardinian business world is faced with the choice of continuing or giving up everything " .

Land reclamation consortia

The discussion was animated by the interventions of farmers representing the various sectors, and they addressed the various problems that have expanded the platform.

Also present was Anbi Sardegna and the seven Reclamation Consortia who once again underlined the difficulties they are experiencing due to the non-arrival of regional contributions and the high energy that are forcing them to stop their activities.
