Cristian Chivu signed today with Parma, where he becomes the new coach. He replaces Fabio Pecchia, who was fired yesterday following the fourth consecutive defeat, Sunday at home to Roma (0-1). The Romanian coach's objective is to try to save the Gialloblu team, third from last in the standings with 20 points, -1 from fourth-last Empoli (and -5 from Cagliari, fourteenth). It is the eighth change on the bench in Serie A.

The club's choice therefore falls on the former Roma and Inter defender, in Italy since 2003 when the Giallorossi took him from Ajax. It was with the Nerazzurri that he began his coaching career in the youth sector: he led the Under-14, Under-17, Under-18 and, from 2021 to last June, the Primavera. In his first season with what until a year ago was the Under-19 he won the championship, beating Cagliari in the semi-final and Roma in the final .

Chivu will have a staff composed of Antonio Gagliardi (assistant coach), Angelo Palombo (technical assistant) and Nicola Pavarini (goalkeeping coach). The new coach will lead the team in the training session scheduled for this afternoon at the Mutti Training Center in Collecchio. His debut - also as a first team coach - is scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the twenty-sixth matchday of Serie A, in the Emilian derby at home to Bologna .
