The challenge to the last perfume is back between glasses of Vermentino . From tonight to Friday the white grape variety that speaks Sardinian beautifully is still the protagonist. On the agenda is the third edition of the 2023 Vermentino National Wine Competition, in Quartu Sant'Elena , at the former Capuchin Convent. About 160 labels in the competition ; in addition to Sardinia, Tuscany and Liguria, the challenge is also open to the productions of Sicily, Puglia and Lazio. And just to remind you, just a year ago the Isle of White Mediterranean, one of the most courted in the world, had imposed itself on its cousins of Corsica, conquering the top of the ranking. That was the international competition in its second edition organized in Cagliari at the end of June 2022. In the wake of that success, now we return to the tasting tables for a national competition also organized by APS Promo Eventi, of great appeal and already authorized since 2017 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, sponsored by the Region, the Municipality of Quartu in collaboration with Laore, Coldiretti Sardinia and the Sardinia Bio District Foundation.

Great anticipation therefore for the start of the sample evaluation work scheduled for tomorrow from 8 to 13.30 . Pierpaolo Lorieri has been reconfirmed as president of the Competition while the juries will be made up of oenologists, journalists/sommeliers from all over Italy. In the meantime , the general welcome briefing is scheduled tonight at the former Capuchin Convent . Greetings from the municipal administration of Quartu Sant'Elena, from APS Promo Eventi and from the president of the Lorieri Competition. Friday 26, at 10, the visit to the Quartu Sant'Elena area, organized by the Cantina di Quartu and in collaboration with Coldiretti Sardegna, the Bio District Foundation and the DISI District - Mario Fadda di S. Isidoro. From 6 pm Gran Galá del Vermentino and announcement of the winners again at the ex-Convent of the Capuchins. Appointment open to all enthusiasts during which the wines that have participated in the competition will be tasted. Also for this edition, as well as for the 2022 International Competition, a section will be dedicated to wines from certified organic farming.

The jurors will taste the competing wines with the limited edition "Tailormade VSG" glasses, specially produced by the Italesse company, on the proposal and in collaboration with the Vermentino expert of the Competition, the sommelier Angelo Concas who gave the definitive approval, for enhance the properties of this particular vine. The sommelier service will be entrusted to the professionalism of Fis Sardegna.
