Brescia Calcio, a club founded in 1911, no longer exists. It has lost its professional status and license, and as a result will not be registered for the 2025-2026 Serie C championship, for which President Massimo Cellino had submitted an application last week. The Federal Council "acknowledges the failure to grant Brescia Calcio the national license for the 2025-2026 season and the consequent non-admission to the 2025-2026 Serie C championship," it wrote in a press release.
In its decision, the FIGC details the numerous administrative violations and missed payments that led to this decision . Former Cagliari president Massimo Cellino, owner of the Lombard club since 2017, had until June 6 to pay part of the eight million euros in tax arrears and other late payments. Brescia was penalized eight points (four this season, four next season) for these administrative violations, which is why the club was relegated to Serie C (with the sensational “rescue” of Sampdoria, who had lost Serie B on the pitch and found it again with the playouts then won with Salernitana ).
In 23 Serie A seasons (the last one in 2019-2020), Brescia achieved its best finish with eighth place in 2000-2001 . Its shirt has been worn, among others, by players such as Roberto Baggio, Alessandro Altobelli, Andrea Pirlo and Luca Toni, as well as Pep Guardiola.
