Nicolò Cavuoti's 2025 season has been enriched by another important milestone: a contract renewal with Cagliari. The 2003-born midfielder has signed a contract extension until June 30, 2030, building on an excellent start to the season, during which he has become a permanent member of the Rossoblu first team. He's also been a key figure, as demonstrated (while awaiting his Serie A debut) by his decisive penalty in the final series against Virtus Entella in August and his goal in his first start on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia against Frosinone .
Cavuoti's story begins a long time ago in Vasto, in the province of Chieti, where he was born and raised. In the 2019-2020 season, he played 19 Serie D matches with Vastese, which he left in January 2020 (just before the pandemic broke out) to join Cagliari's youth academy, starting with the Under-17s. He quickly rose through the ranks and the following year was already in the Primavera, coached by Alessandro Agostini. He made 82 appearances for the Under-19s and scored seven goals, with the highlight being their qualification for the playoffs in 2021-2022 (a semi-finalist against Inter) . This season, he also made his senior debut, on January 19, 2022, in the Coppa Italia against Sassuolo.
In 2023-24, Cavuoti returned to the first team, playing for Olbia in Serie C. A loan move to a club that has often welcomed players from Cagliari's youth ranks over the years allowed him to get to know the Serie C scene, gaining experience in 21 games (with a goal against Virtus Entella, the same opponent he had scored against last month with Cagliari from the penalty spot). He then moved – again on loan – to Feralpisalò, where he was a nearly constant starter last season (36 out of 38 appearances in Group A) and reached the playoffs.
The two years on loan in Serie C shaped Cavuoti, who returned to Cagliari this season. Fabio Pisacane (who had already met him in the Primavera team in 2022-2023) wanted to keep him in the squad and didn't think twice about starting him immediately, as a substitute in the season's debut in the Coppa Italia (a competition where, curiously, he has made his only appearances for the Rossoblu since 2021, 4). Serie A is missing, as he has always been on the bench in the opening matchdays, but that will likely be his next step . His new contract effectively makes him a key player for the current Cagliari side.
