He used over 16,000 Lego bricks to build the diorama of the castle of San Michele , one of the symbols of Cagliari.

This is how Maurizio Lampis , the Sardinian brick builder already famous for having created the miniatures of the Trevi Fountain and Piazza San Marco, signed his latest masterpiece. It took a month to recreate the work, which joins the other 13 Sardinian monuments already designed and assembled by Lampis. In his portfolio, the reproductions of Cala Goloritzè, the basilica of Saccargia, the Temple of Antas, the Basilica of Bonaria and that of the Torre dell'Elefante in Cagliari stand out.

The castle is a work on a minifigure scale : its proportions, in relation to the inserted characters, give an idea of the real size of the monument. The project required the use of photographic material for its execution and no aid from dedicated programs or software . «It is the third monument dedicated to the city of Cagliari - explains Lampis - and I decided to build it because it is one of the most important symbols of the capital. My intent is to continue to create Sardinia in miniature by creating as many Sardinian monuments as possible».

However, the artist would already be working on the construction of a 15th diorama, which "concerns a work from central Sardinia". The brick-built Castle of San Michele – after an official presentation to the Municipality of Cagliari scheduled for next week – will first be exhibited at the La Plaia shopping center (on June 28-29-30) and then move to the Karalisbrick brick museum, in Viale Trent.
