Cagliari's fourth consecutive defeat once again left many regrets, with the Rossoblu only succumbing in the closing stages: Lazio won 2-1, overturning Nzola's early lead with goals from Isaksen and Pinamonti. Obert was sent off.
Pisacane returns to a 4-3-2-1 formation, with Adopo (top right, with Fadera as a midfielder) alongside the returning Maldini in support of Nzola . Cagliari immediately take a free kick; Fazzini's shot is parried by Noslin, and Fadera's volley from the edge of the area goes wide. It's the only chance of the first quarter of an hour, during which the Rossoblu otherwise manage well defensively (only one shot, from Isaksen, is deflected by Obert, which is actually a throw-in).
Caprile made the first save of the afternoon in the 19th minute, blocking a right-footed effort from Frattesi from the edge of the box, set up by Noslin. A minute later, Isaksen ran down the pitch, Taylor back-heeled it to Zaccagni on the left, and the shot was saved in two stages by Caprile himself. But in the 21st minute, Cagliari struck: Fadera's run seemed over when Belahyane tackled him, but the Gambian outsmarted his opponent and managed to get a touch on the ball, feeding it into the center for Nzola, who advanced and beat Mandas . This was the Angolan's second consecutive goal, following his one against Roma on Tuesday, also in the same goal.
At the half-hour mark, Fadera clashed with Taylor and felt his right thigh pull. He went down and asked to be substituted. Kofler came on (32'), with Deiola moving up to midfield with Romano in the right midfield and no longer playing as a playmaker. And in the 36th minute, Lazio equalized: Noslin completed a one-two with Taylor and passed to Isaksen on the edge of the box, whose splendid, unstoppable left-footed curler found Caprile in the far corner. The Dane's goal was a beautiful one, making it 1-1 . But Cagliari didn't sit idly by, and immediately afterward, Fazzini nearly made it 2-1 with a right-footed shot from inside the box that just missed the side-netting. Frattesi called for a penalty in the 43rd minute, when he fell to the ground after a light challenge with Fazzini; referee Colombo ordered play to continue. The half-time break followed a minute of added time.
Nzola doesn't return for the second half, with Mendy coming on for him. After ten minutes, Lazio made three substitutions: one due to injury, with Zaccagni throwing in Pinamonti, then Dele-Bashiru and Pedraza replacing Frattesi and Nuno Tavares. On the hour mark, Taylor fires a dangerous free kick from the right; Noslin may have just missed, but Caprile does well to dive and save . Immediately afterward, Noslin himself fires a left-footed shot over.
In the 64th minute, Pisacane replaced Maldini with Trepy, and Fazzini (who had just been booked) with a yellow card for Liteta. Rodríguez also received a yellow card in the 66th minute for a foul on Dele-Bashiru on the right. Taylor's free kick was headed just over by Provstgaard. A fine move in the Lazio box, with the ball all on the ground, freed Taylor for a right-footed shot, which went just wide: the 72nd minute . For the final quarter of an hour, Provstgaard was replaced by Diogo Leite, while in the 80th minute, Isaksen's fine left-footed shot narrowly missed the post. Then Cataldi came on for Belahyane.
With Deiola down after being tackled by Dele-Bashiru, Lazio made a move and scored the 2-1 lead (83'): Isaksen found left-back Pedraza on the right, whose cross-shot fell to Pinamonti in the center of the area, and he headed it home . The Cagliari captain was left stunned on the ground (and referee Colombo should have stopped the play due to a blow to the head), and was taken off on a stretcher, replaced by Kevin Carlos. Play resumed six minutes after the goal, with eight minutes of stoppage time, but just as the match began, Obert was sent off for a second yellow card (a foul on the unleashed Isaksen). Lazio thus had control of the final minutes.
