It was a gala evening for Fabio Pisacane, with the Cagliari coach receiving the "Briglia d'Oro 2026" award in Siena. This recognition is awarded annually (this is the 33rd edition) by the Siena branch of the AIAC, the Italian Football Coaches Association, to coaches who have stood out during the season for their sporting achievements and ability to lead the team. This recognition, announced on May 19th, comes just days after his contract renewal with the Rossoblu was officially announced .
Pisacane, curiously, became the second consecutive Cagliari coach to be awarded the "Briglia d'Oro": a year ago, the same recognition was awarded to his predecessor in Sardinia, Davide Nicola . Over the years, the list of honorees includes other former Rossoblu coaches such as Massimiliano Allegri, Davide Ballardini, Eusebio Di Francesco, Claudio Ranieri, Leonardo Semplici, Gian Piero Ventura, Renzo Ulivieri, and Zdeněk Zeman, as well as Mario Beretta and Francesco Calzona, who held other roles at Cagliari, albeit not on the bench.
To kick off the evening, Pisacane also held a workshop open to all qualified coaches, where he demonstrated his methodologies and team management skills during his first season as coach in Serie A. The award ceremony was then held, citing the following motivation: " With passion, skill, and great dedication, he led Cagliari to an extraordinary relegation to Serie A. Beyond his already renowned excellent technical skills, he has always demonstrated an undeniably valuable human side, tackling every difficult challenge life has thrown his way with a high spirit."
