With these words , the Minister of Labour Marina Calderone officially opened the G7 Labour Summit in Cagliari, wishing the heads of delegations from the other six most industrialised countries a pleasant stay and intense discussion.

"I am sure - she said - that these two days of work will allow us to make further progress in the common path that we have built and developed together on priority issues for the world of work".

Going into specifics, the minister underlined the commitment «to a human-centric use of artificial intelligence , the resilience of our labour markets in the face of demographic trends and the importance of the care sector and skills in addition to inclusiveness in the world of work, safety and health ».

The heads of delegation

The G7 Labour Ministers of the seven most industrialised countries, as well as the EU Commissioner and representatives of international organisations dealing with labour and employment, will participate in the G7 Labour Meeting.

The heads of delegation are : Paul Thompson, Minister of Employment and Social Development of Canada; Nicolas Schmit, EU Commissioner for Labor and Social Rights; Anousheh Karvar, Representative of the French Government to the ILO and the G7; Humbertus Heil, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Germany; Kiezo Takemi, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan; Allison McGovern, Minister of Employment of Great Britain; Thea Lee, Under Secretary of Labor Affairs of the United States.

The bilaterals

Not only plenary sessions. Overwork for Minister Marina Calderone during the G7 in Cagliari. The Minister of Labor had some bilateral meetings with her German and British colleagues.

With the German Minister Humbertus Heil, the interconnection of the Italian and German economies was highlighted and the respective dynamics of the labor market were explored in depth. The agreement on the need for an Action Plan for the development and use of Artificial Intelligence was confirmed. Great attention was also paid to the issue of digital and demographic transitions , closely linked to that of skills, against the backdrop of the Joint Declaration of Intent on Professional Training.

With British Deputy Minister Allison McGovern, the mutual interest in continuing the intense collaboration between the two countries was underlined, in particular on the issues of artificial intelligence and its impact on the world of work and on policies to support young people in particular in the workplace.
