The invasion of rossoblù fans is not enough to prevent Cagliari from defeating in Monza. The 1-0 scored by Maldini in the first half interrupts the series of four useful results in a row , with Lapadula and his teammates thus remaining on 26 points.

Ranieri continues with Cagliari who has built a string of four useful results, replacing the injured Mina and Gaetano, respectively, with Wieteska and Shomurodov . In Monza there is Carboni from Torino, deployed as fourth on the left in defence.

In the first half hour, the only emotions come from the many rossoblù fans, not just the 2,400 present in the away section. In the 31st minute Shomurodov earns a free kick from the edge of the box, but Lapadula's shot just grazes the post. Cagliari seems in control, but in the 42nd minute they give away a free kick 25 meters out on a ball that has now been lost: a perfect strike from Maldini, with the ball hitting under the crossbar and going over the goal line . Monza ahead and rossoblù having to chase. At the end of the half, Dany Mota's header from close range and the ball goes wide.

We go to half-time with the home team ahead 1-0 and, at the start of the second half, Ranieri brings on Prati and Oristanio for Makoumbou and Jankto .

Cagliari looked for an equalizer and came close to achieving it in the 18th minute, with a right-footed shot that was deflected and went wide of the post. In the 23rd minute Lapadula found the right move, but his goal was disallowed for an obvious offside .

A whirlwind of changes in Monza, who in the 39th minute came close to doubling their lead with new entry Colombo, who however missed everything alone in front of Scuffet. Ranieri also throws Azzi and Kingston into the mix for Augello and Shomurodov. Viola also enters for Deiola. Cagliari discouraged, Monza came close to an encore again with Colombo and, after 5' of injury time, the final whistle arrived, marking a bitter afternoon for the rossoblù .
