Andrea Belotti underwent surgery today following the horrific injury sustained on Saturday during Cagliari vs. Inter. The Rossoblu striker underwent reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee , a procedure that was a complete success.

Belotti will begin his rehabilitation process in the next few days. It certainly won't be a short one: his season is compromised, if not over, given that recovery time is expected to be between six and seven months . That means he shouldn't be able to return to group training until April.

The injury occurred in the 42nd minute of Cagliari vs. Inter. On a long ball, which was offside, Belotti's left knee buckled as he attempted to move before colliding with goalkeeper Josep Martínez. The striker immediately realized the severity of the situation, so much so that he was supported off the pitch by the club's medical staff .
