Bad news for 1,322 Air Italy workers.

This morning, during the discussion table between the social partners, the company and the ministries of Labor and Transport in Rome, the liquidator of the airline reiterated that the company has no intention of asking for an extension of the layoffs and instead intends to go forward with the collective dismissal procedure, which will start from 8 December.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Regions of Sardinia and Lombardy were absent from the meeting. At the basis of the non-participation there would be an error in the summons, but "the absence is unjustifiable, everyone was aware of this morning's videoconference", argue the unions. "The position of Air Italy is unacceptable, it is not possible for the company to refuse to ask for layoffs, making every effort to save the 1300 workers in vain. All the more so since in this period Covid the social safety nets are at no cost for the companies ", explained Marco Bardini, regional secretary of Anpav Sardinia.

"The road is going uphill if Air Italy continues to refuse to apply for layoffs and to proceed with collective dismissal - said the secretary of Uil Trasporti Nord Sardegna, Elisabetta Manca -. At the same time, the absence of representatives is deplorable. of the Mise and of the Regions of Sardinia and Lombardy ".

"The workers risk being fired within a few weeks. We cannot accept such a superficial attitude on the part of national institutions, first of all the Mise, just as we cannot but stigmatize the intolerant absence of the Sardinia Region", the comment of the secretary general of Filt Cgil Sardegna, Arnaldo Boeddu.

The new meeting on the dispute is scheduled for mid-next week.
