Administrative 2023, polls open in Sardinia: 39 Municipalities to vote
Spotlight on Assemini and Iglesias, the two centers where the ballot could take place in JunePer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
No one admits that it is a political test, but the attention of the parties on today's and tomorrow's administrations on the island is at the highest levels. The reason is clear: it is the last time citizens will be called to the polls before the regional elections in February 2024. And it is the last electoral opportunity that political forces and coalitions will have to take measures before the round that will involve all Sardinians.
There are 39 Municipalities voting, with a possible second round of ballots – for Assemini and Iglesias – on 11 and 12 June. Overall about 118 thousand voters.
In Assemini the centre-left and M5S present themselves together, anticipating the alliance which should be formalized for the regional ones. The candidate is Diego Corrias, supported by the M5S, Pd, Psi lists and by the civic "Assemini goes on". He will deal with Niside Muscas (centre-right) – supported by Forza Italia, Fratelli d'Italia and Lega – and with the former grillino mayor Mario Puddu who has the civic "Mario Puddu", Riformatori, UDC and Sardegna 20Venti on his side.
The outgoing mayor Dem Mauro Usai returns to Iglesias with seven lists on his side. To make an encore, he will have to get the better of Beppe Pes, the candidate brought by all of the center-right except FdI who will instead support Luigi Biggio.
Voting takes place today from 7 to 23 and tomorrow from 7 to 15.
