Zeppieri out with honour, Shelton in the semifinal in Cagliari

The French Ugo Humbert, seeded number 6, had to struggle 4h13' to win 6-7(11), 7-6(7), 6-4 and get the better of the Japanese Taro Daniel (who wasted in the second set two match points at 5-3 and a third in the tie-break). Against him there will be the Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan, who got the better of the Croatian Borna Gojo 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
The semifinal of the lower part of the draw will see the Croatian Laslo Djere, number 4 of the seeding, challenge the American Ben Shelton. The Croatian, finalist here in 2021 and winner at Forte Village the previous year, beat the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, one of the tennis players who most intrigued the Cagliari public.
The most awaited semi-final was the last one concluded after 11 pm, with Giulio Zeppieri who put the number 2 on the draw in heavy difficulty. Shelton ended up winning 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in a match that saw him risk elimination.
