Black smoke, at least for now, in the negotiations between the European Union and the United States on tariffs.
According to Bloomberg, US officials confirmed that most of the tariffs on the EU will not be removed immediately.
The US has reportedly rejected the EU's proposal to remove all tariffs on industrial goods, including cars. Washington has "suggested" that some of the duties could be offset by increased investment and exports.
In this context of uphill negotiations in the US, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is preparing to arrive for a visit. "It's a difficult moment, let's see how it goes in the next few hours" , Meloni said in her speech at the Leonardo Awards ceremony, at Villa Madama. Then, referring to the mission to Washington where she will meet US President Donald Trump, the Prime Minister added, with a hint of irony: "I don't feel any pressure as you can imagine for my next two days..."
