The Russian news agency Interfax reports this, citing sources in the air force. Kushner, US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, and Witkoff, special envoy for peacekeeping missions, are Trump's chosen negotiators. Their trip to Moscow had been announced in the past few hours by Trump himself: "Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are two great negotiators. They've done an excellent job. They will bring a proposal to end the war," he declared.
They bring with them a "proposal to end the war" between Russia and Ukraine, Trump said. "We have an idea for peace between Russia and Ukraine," he added: "They are two great negotiators. We'll see if we can do something." They are expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin today, and tomorrow they will leave for Kiev to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
